![]() Heather & John When Heather Sandal and John Puca were determining the date for their wedding, they were delighted to have everything and more than they could have hoped for. While interviewing reception sites, they found out that the Plaza Club was available on the night of October 23, 1999, which was the date for Houston's largest fireworks and laser light show. The City of Houston ended the twentieth century with a huge bang when it sponsored the Houston Lighting and Power Show. The Plaza Club located on the 47th floor of the Shell Building served as the perfect place to watch the show and hold the reception.
The couple fell in love while serving in the single-life department of Second Baptist Church. In order to have an evening wedding, they selected River Oaks Baptist Church. The church was decorated with large topiary arrangements of calla lilies and greenery. The Bride carried a bouquet of calla lilies with bright splashes of color from the red roses interspersed. The brilliant designers at Celeste's Creations did all the arrangements. The bride dressed in a strapless gown made a stunning entrance as a heralding of trumpets was overheard. The bride and groom enjoyed a beautiful service and committed before their friends and family never to divorce one another. The couple wrote their own vows in order that all the wedding guests would know their level of commitment to God and each other. At the reception, as the guests stepped off the elevator to the club, they were greeted with Hostesses handing them long-stemmed chocolate roses. The guests enjoyed a seated dinner with pecan crusted chicken and filet mignon being served. The wedding Cake by Cakes and Catering was four-tiered and decorated with beautiful red roses. The newlyweds danced to "I Finally Found Someone" by Barbara Streisand and the bride and her father danced to "Butterfly Kisses".
Photography was also very important to the couple. After interviewing photographers, they chose to go with Beth with Stamper Photography. Beth did an incredible job capturing the couple as the colors exploded in the sky. The Plaza Club's floor to ceiling windows made for a spectacular view of the fireworks and laser show. At ten o'clock, Jeff with DJ's Unlimited turned down the music and piped into the musical extravaganza. As the fireworks fell from the sky, the newlyweds kissed while gazing out the window.
